How project proposals are assessed (for projects submitted in 2006)

The assessment process

Tempus projects are assessed by independent experts: JEPs are assessed by experts from the EU and Tempus partner countries, who carry out an academic and a technical assessment of the project proposals. IMGs and SCMs are evaluated by EU experts. Once a short list of projects is established, it is sent to the Ministries of Education for consultation. On the basis of the evaluation reports and the comments received from the Ministries of Education and other services of the European Commission, the European Commission makes the final decision on projects to be funded.

Assessment forms with assessment criteria for the three types of Tempus projects can be consulted here.

Evaluators’ guidelines for the three types of Tempus projects can be consulted here. These guidelines were used during the previous selection rounds and are subject to slight modifications. As soon as they will be modified, updated versions will be placed here:

Call for experts

The Commission publishes a call for applications (EAC/73/02)

This call aims to produce a list of experts to assess proposals and carry out other activities in the framework of the Tempus III programme. Experts selected for inclusion in the list may be called upon to participate in activities within the context of the Tempus III programme until 31 December 2006.
