Project Title: Master “Governance and Public Choice” – Curriculum Development and International Recognition

Project Summary
The Faculty of Business and Law of Ilia State University of Georgia in cooperation with other Georgian and Ukrainian Universities plans to apply to TEMPUS IV (third call) in terms of Joint Projects/Curriculum Reform. The project aims to establish global network cooperation within consortium members the goal of which is “to ensure that advantageous grounds are set up to further international recognition of targeted Partner Countries’ MA curriculum in line with development of new curriculum and modules in Governance - Public Choice and according to the Bologna Process and international standards”. New MA program will be implemented at Ilia State University and 4 other modules in Public Management, Welfare-Economics-Sustainability, European International Governance and Democracies: Transition, Consolidation, Design Alternatives for MA programs respectively in Public Administration, Public Law and International Economic Relations at other Partner Universities.
In this point of view it is planned:
-To modernize and bring new MA curriculum as well as new curriculum modules for targeted partner countries and disseminate results;
-To prepare the grounds for development programs with a double or multiple/joint degree arrangements;
-To establish recognition arrangements between higher education institutions in the EU and in the partner countries;
- To Develop Research Network Cooperation and form Training Centers in Partner Country Universities.
In order to meet specific objectives the following key activities are proposed:
Professional development of Academic Staff at EU Universities;
Designation of teaching assignments and methodology;
Development of collaborative research activities between EU and PC teachers and students;
International mobility - Exchange of teachers and students on the basis of recognition of new courses and modules at partner and EU Universities.
Development of intensive cooperation of Quality Assurance departments of consortium members;
Quality Control activities, such as Internal and External review of curricula and modules;
Evaluation of First and Second year MA piloting and etc.
In this point of view it is intended to organize trips, study tours, seminars, workshops, international conference, publications in peer review journals etc. By the date of 01.02.10, the consortium members are:

Ilia State University seeks the strongest EU Institution in the relevant field which in coordination with other EU universities will lead the academic direction of the project and take an active part in assisting Georgian and Ukrainian Universities in preparation of MA program, syllabuses, study materials, teaching assignments, Development of collaborative research activities, quality evaluation of MA piloting, arrangement of recognition procedures for the courses and etc.
